iHome products can be found worldwide through virtually every distribution channel. iHome supports its brand with national advertising campaigns in print, online and through PR and social media. Their innovative products and unique features continue to win awards annually for consumer publications.

Over 150 million iHome products have been sold since the brands launch in 2005!

Most recently SilverPoint Technologies (a licensee of iHome) whom has a very close relationship with SDI Technologies, expanded into the Home & Kitchen Category. SilverPoint works hand in hand with SDI Technologies to ensure their products are innovative, technologically advanced and of the highest quality - Their products speak for themselves. Their combined experience in Engineering, Product Development, Wholesale, and Online Selling is 50+ Years.

My main focus was improving the iHome Clean app structure, content, and visuals on a series of customized milestones adapted to iHome's needs. This included the iOS and Android versions of the app. Another area of focus was the Website for iHome Autovac products, where I modified and developed a custom e-commerce site that served as a platform to learn about the products, shop parts, and offer support to customers. Also, I worked on the design for the brand assets, documents and presentations, as well as promotional material for the iHome Autovac line of products.

Vision & Execution

The initial part of the process was to fully redesign the app experience from account creation to comprehensive device control. This included a full audit of the existing app, testing it with the physical products, and conducting a series of interviews with multiple users to identify points of friction.

Once the audit was completed, we iterated on several flows until we achieved the desired one, tested it, and applied the brand elements to it. The platform was then developed by the factory that created the robot vacuums since they have full knowledge of how to connect the APIs to the hardware.

Simultaneously we developed a fully custom e-commerce site + help center. The site allowed the client to set up the full inventory of vacuums, parts, and pieces. Also, customers could access the help center and find relevant information by model number or name without having to reach out via email or external channels.

Another important part of the work done with the client was a complete redesign of the brand and packaging, we worked together with the Industrial designer on defining how the products should look so they would align with the brand standards in finishes, colors, and materials utilized.

For packaging, we unified all the graphic language utilized and created different lines depending on the pricing and features of each product.

For the displays, we worked with the retailers on utilizing the available spaces on shelves to present the vacuums and introduce the possible customers to the features available on each model.
The objective of this whole rebranding was to achieve a more cohesive brand that will be more recognizable within iHome's parent brand guidelines, and customer's trust accordingly.

Results

The revamped mobile app, resulted in improved user engagement, 60% reduction in product returns, and increase in average product rating from two to four stars.

Also the new packaging helped the product to be presented better in shelves in retail stores increasing acquisition and sales. Big store retailers started accepting the product and selling it in stores and online, two of them being Best Buy and Walmart.
